Hardie Truesdale
The images used throughout our site are the work of two very talented photographers. Hardie Truesdale is an internationally recognized landscape photographer based here in the 'Gunks. His work has appeared in numerous publications and he offers classes and seminars in landscape photography.

Mohonk Preserve
The cliffs we climb on are owned by an organization called the Mohonk Preserve. They act as the stewards and caretakers of the largest not-for-profit land preserve in New York State. Climbing is only one small area of interest for the Preserve. They run environmental education programs for school groups and offer a wide variety of programs available to the public.

Rock & Snow
Rock & Snow was founded in 1970 by Dick Williams, for forty years one of the most active climbers in the Gunks. Dick is the author of several editions of the definitive guide book to the climbs here and pioneer of untold numbers of new climbs. Rock & Snow is now owned by Dick's former partner, Rich Gottlieb, and is a complete outdoor store with an obvious focus on climbing equipment. The staff at Rock & Snow is highly knowledgeable about all aspects of climbing gear, the climbs and the cliffs, and the larger local area as well.

A website run by local climbers dedicated to information about the 'Gunks for all who climb here. Whether visiting from out-of-state or from another country, climbers go to gunks.com for a wealth of information about the area.

New Paltz Chamber of Commerce

AMGA
Referred to repeatedly throughout our site, the AMGA is the organization whose mission is the education, training and certification of guides and climbing schools. The uncompromising, rigorous and stringent standards set by the AMGA has vastly improved and enhanced the quality and professionalism of American guiding. These standards have been recognized and approved by the International Federation of Mountain Guide Associations. This international guide certifying body accepted the AMGA into its membership in 1999.

American Alpine Club
The American Alpine Club was founded in 1902 and is celebrating the beginning of its second century. This club represents the interests of all American climbers in all disciplines and aspects of the "mountain sports."
